To Assist
You in Helping Your Student
For very specific information on our day-to day activiites,
feel free to check my website, daily, under ANNOUNCEMENTS section,
to see Agenda information for the day. Students on expected
to record daily happenings, homework, and long-term
assignments. Time is allowed in class for students to
complete this process. Review, discussion, questions and
recording by me on a projected screen takes place. The
Agenda recording is then posted in the room each day.
Agenda recordings are kept on the website for approximately two
weeks.
**Periodic Agenda checks will be done in class for point
credit.
At-home Work To assist
with homework or at-home work in SpringBoard, the entire text of
Spring Board is posted on this website under Documents. (8th
grade is posted under SpringBoard 8th, 6th grade is posted under
SpringBoard 6th grade.
Please impress upon your child the importance of daily review and
focus on homework. A terrific amount of time is not needed,
just some time with concentration, on the assignment. The
positive, cumulative effect of intensive work on the
smaller, daily assignments really results in higher scores on major
assignments and tests and ensures success on Embedded
Assessments.
Parents and
Students--Remember a great source for homework help is
www.piercecountylibrary.org which provides online coaching and
interaction--available 7 days a week 1:00--10:00

****An at-school source for extra study time or homework is
Homework Club every Tues and Thursday after school. Students
may ride the Activity Bus home.

our voice in different kinds of composition. We'll
be composing a letter with a specific purpose and doing a character
analysis essay. Soon, we'll begin studies with our novel for 6th,
Holes.
8th Grade= Work continues by beginning Unit Five "The Challenge of
Comedy" in SpringBoard. We'll study and analyze various
types of humor and how authors produce it--essays, poetry, film
clips, anecdotes, short story. Also, we'll be performing
comedy after looking at some pieces by Shakespeare. It should be
challenging to say the least!
Kopatime--students are bringing in their favorite children's book
and sharing and reading it to the group . Then, they will be
creating their own children's book based on characteristics we've
learned by reading a variety of
them.
