My Contact Information
Thank you for visiting my
website. It is always a work in progress and I am
still learning how all the features work.
If you can not find the information that you need, please feel free
to use my contact information. Daily class work schedule is
under the Homework Tab.

You might have noticed that I have
titled my site Science Technology
Engineering Mathematics . As a long time
mechanical engineer prior to returning to the teaching profession,
I believe it is critical to include aspects of all these
disiplines. Students need to see how their science
knowledge is useful and enriching to their future and to
society.

Student
Expectations
My classroom
rules are, hopefully, very simple.
The students are expected to
follow the school program and the Character Counts program,
both inside and outside the classroom.
I place a high value on all of the six
pillars of character: responsibility, fairness,
citizenship, caring, trustworthiness, and respect.
These are described in more detail in their student agendas and at
this link http://charactercounts.org
. We have taken class time to explain these expectations and
will continue to discuss them throughout the year.

Classroom Grading Standards
In our class, I use a evaluation method which is standards
based. It is based on a 4 point system as follows:
4 = exceeds standard
3 = meets standard
2 = below standard
1 = well below standard
The students know this as the deluxe cheeseburger system*. It
was explained to them like this, 'If I ask you for a deluxe
cheeseburger and you give me a -
deluxe cheeseburger, fries, drink, and
napkin = 4
deluxe
cheeseburger
= 3
plain
burger
= 2
hot
dog
= 1
rock
= 0
My goal is for every student to be at level
3 or better.
Test and lab/projects will account for the
major portion of your student's class grade. Although no less
important, other assignments will make up the remainder.
