During this year in social studies, we will look at
several periods of United States history (1775 - 1865).
First, we'll start off with the "times
that try men's soul" (Thomas Paine) - the American Revolution. Our
next unit will focus on government. During this time,
we'll look at the formation of our government, the Bill of Rights,
and United States Constitution. As we continue our study, we
will look at how the United States expanded, slavery and the Civil
War.
In language arts, we are working with Springboard as we look at
the challenges we face and the challenges facing our community,
nation, and world. During this year, you will have an opportunity
to explore how challenges affect us by creating some wonderful
projects.
6th

Wow! It's
great to welcome you to Kopachuck!

social studies and one of language arts.
During your social studies class, you will study about the ancient
civilizations of Mesopotamia, Egypt, China and Greece.
In your language arts class, we will be working with
Springboard. The Springboard curriculum focuses on
rigor, relevance,
relationships, and results. The 6th grade Springboard deals
with Changes. What a great opportunity to look at the changes
in our lives.
