Science 7
Harbor Ridge Middle School

Along with your complete, dated-order science binder and the daily assignment log that goes with it, you now have ANOTHER science support system in place... this web site. I will make every effort to update this site each week with learning targets, assignments, activities, labs, projects, and assessments, as well as digital photos of our daily adventures and investigations.

Parents: The greatest thing you can do for your science student is to ask for their science binder. It should have everything in it from day one. in dated order. It is a road map of what has been, what is, and what will be.

Remember.... you can't help but succeed in this class... no matter who you are! You have so many resources to help you out. You just have to remember where to look! The assignment log at the front of your science notebook lists all of our activities by date. It sort of acts as a table of contents for your binder. It tells you (or your parents!) where we have been, where we are, and often, where we are headed. If you have failed to update your assignment log in class or have forgotten to head your papers properly, then you can always pop by my classroom (128) before school and use the model notebook to straighten things out. If that doesn't fit your schedule, you can always rely on your study buddy to spend a few minutes with you to put your science binder in order.

SEE! Four (4) resources to help you stay organized and learn. And if you stay organized, it pays off. There are no suprises in this class. I will always let you know exactly what you need to learn. No guessing! There are flashback activities and study guides. There are discussions and reviews. As I say all the time.... We read about it, write about it, talk about it and play with it. It's all in your science binder. Use it!

So there you have it... The road to success in life science. You might choose to follow it or choose to ignore it. Life can be very simple. Make the right choices and you get along with your parents, eat well, sleep well and have lots of priviledges. Choose unwisely, and  you suffer the wrath of me. Your choice.
Best choosing!

Respectfully,
Mrs. Tweten

MMP MultiMedia Productions
Harbor Ridge Middle School

MultiMedia Productions is not a typical middle school elective. 34 students working in teams with eight computers requires all staff to make use of every minute. Seat time is spent creating and designing. Computer time is spent loading, editing and polishing. In this class, your work is never done. When finished with one thing, it's on to the next. Below you will find a list of "graduated" learning opportunities beginning with the simplest and moving to more complex projects. The higher you climb, the better your grade. This class is about effort and on task behavior. This is a real time, real work class. We have projects to create and deadlines to meet.

No matter which of the many projects you choose, please remember that your audience is the Harbor Ridge student body and they want to see images of themselves - not some old car or rock and roll star. They would much rather see Harbor Ridge kids sing the rock and roll song.....

You are expected to complete one of each of the following projects to ace this class.

The Starting Point
A simple PowerPoint project that is a series of simple slided including text and clip art. The creator's personal logo and/or caricature appears in the production.

The Delux
A sophisticated PowerPoint project that incorporates imported personal still photos, backgrounds,  and overlays.

The Super Delux
A WindowsMovieMaker project that incorporates simple still photos, audio and credits.

The Ultimate
A WindowsMovieMaker project that incorporates still photos, video, PP slides, overlays, audio, and credits.

The Whopper
A WindowsMovieMaker project that incorporates still photos, video, PP slides, overlays, audio, voiceovers, interviews and credits.

Because of the nature of this class, it is not possible for me to post class scores in my gradebook. Please send me an email if you wish information on your child's progress.

I suggest that all MMP students burn a CD of all MMP projects at the end of the semester.

Best of luck. Have fun!
