Welcome
to Mrs. Gregory's
LANGUAGE ARTS PAGE
September, 2008
This site is designed to help you access
assignments, learning targets and suggested activities for my
classes. Look for information under the Announcements tab
to learn about daily work, upcoming major assignments
and assessments.
SPRINGBOARD This is
the third year that the Peninsula School District has
used the Springboard curriculum in our middle school
language arts classrooms. This program is designed to prepare all
students for success in high school and college by encouraging
reading, writing, critical thinking and reasoning skills.
GRADES I am
using a weighted gradebook this year. This means that daily
classwork and homework will account for 10% of the grade. These
assignments are designed to inform teachers and students about how
well students are learning our target material.
Quizzes will be 25% and reading assessments and writing
assignments are considered summative assessments and will be 65% of
a students grade. Work is due on the date assigned. Daily work
will not be taken late unless you are absent. Major assessments and
assignments will be taken late, but they will be marked down 10%
for each day after the due date.
LIBRARY We visit the
library each week and all students are expected to have a library
book in class every day. Students finish in-class assignments at
different rates and a book insures that each student's time is used
productively.
ATTENDANCE Regular attendance is
very important for success. Assignments and documents are posted
but most
quizzes and collaborative activities may
not be made up.
