Welcome to the new 2008-2009 school year!
Core
Henderson Bay High School has gone through alot of positive changes
in the last couple years. Our students' needs are our highest
priority. My core class meets with me every morning. We
work on independent contracts, make announcements, organize student
files, and much more, including providing support and a sense of
community for each student.

Language Arts
Peninsula School District has adopted a language arts program
entitled Springboard. Springboard curriculum is
being taught in 7th through 12th grade. My two Language Arts
classes will be using the Springboard curriculum.
Our first Unit is on the Language of Culture. In this unit the
students will begin to reflect and think about their culture
and cultures from around the World.
We will be writing a "I am" poem
Designing a cultural map
Interview
Writing a Narrative Story
Fitness and
Health
Combining physical fitness and health
issues is the basis of this class. Often students have a
negative experience in high school P.E. class due to the
competiveness of the class. This class is designed for
each student to develop their
own fitness program.
We will be walking the track and keeping track of our milage.
We are beginning to record and keep track of our heart rates using
a Heart Rate Monitor.
We will be using a weight room often as the weather turns cold and
rainy. However, walking is our primary activity this quarter.
Sturdy shoes and a coat are recommended for this class.
This first quarter students will be learning ways to deal with
Stress, Time Manage, Mental Health,
Self Esteem and Goal Setting.
