Orca Pod is a two year program
made up of Mrs. Ahre's first grade and Mrs. Rubin's second grade
classes. It is a two year program in which Mrs. Ahre's First
Graders move on to Mrs. Rubin's Second Grade Class.
Throughout the school year they participate in a variety of
multiage activities, with students building relationships with both
teachers. Orca Pod builds stability, a sense of community,
emotional support, consistent expectations and curriculum.
Orca Pod nurtures each child's growth and development, and fosters
a lifelong love of learning.
Orcas live in small pods of 6-40 whales. They are very
social animals. The bonds between the close-knit members of
Orca pods are strong and last for life. The members of a pod
work together in a complex manner and share the results of their
hunt. The pod members protect the young, the sick, and the
injured.

Our first Writer's Celebration
Each student presented their first published piece of writing
to the class. We then celebrated with apple juice and
graham crackers.
