Welcome back, everyone! I hope all
the kids had a great week off and you all enjoyed some good family
time.
This week we have continued talking about dinosaurs, but we are
starting to wrap things up. We worked on a dinosaur math
coloring page with our Buddies, made a dinosaur book in centers,
and graphed our favorite dinosaur (T-Rex was the BIG winner). Next
week we will do some more non-fiction writing about dinosaurs,
and wrap up our unit by sharing what we’ve
learned.
On Wednesday, Mrs.
Williamson’s second graders came in and explained fables to
us. They have been working on retelling fables in their own words,
and they read their works to us. It was wonderful because we have
quite a few siblings in that class.
Monday (March 2)
is Pajama Day for our kindergartners! Let your kids come in
appropriate pajamas and their robe, with their favorite stuffed
animal!
It is also Dr.
Seuss’s birthday, so we are celebrating by spending the
morning reading! Please come in for the morning (if you can) and
settle in to read with your child or a small group of children.
Your child can also bring their favorite book (make sure you have
their name in it!). Mr. Brooks will be coming at 10:50 to read a
Seuss book, and we may even watch a Dr. Seuss video if we can
find one! (Any one have a good one?)
Then next Tuesday,
Nick Adams will be coming at 12:30 to tell a story and we will talk
about some of our favorite authors. He is a former Discovery
teacher and an amazing story teller! We often listen to his tapes
during our rest time, so it will be exciting for the kids to see
and hear him in person!
Spring conferences
are coming up March19th and 20th. We will have 1/2 days and
conference in the p.m. We don’t meet with everyone, but we
want to get to anyone who has a concern or major questions, so
please let me know if you want to be included.
