The leprechauns are coming! There is a new homework assignment coming home. Help your student write a plan for catching a leprechaun. Those who think building the trap would be fun, do it and bring it to school. Maybe we will get a pot of gold or wishes! (Extra copies of the plan page are printable from our documents part of this webpage.)

This week the Point Defiance Zoo presenters visited our classroom. We learned a lot of cool things about insects! Lookfor photos in our Image Gallery.

We have read the book 'Flat Stanley,' by Jeff Brown. Flat Stanley is ready to travel. Please consider taking Stanley on your next trip! Or, you may want to help your First Grader mail him off to friends and relatives near or far. Stanley can even travel through cyber space! Send him to someone after downloading him from this website! You can send our web-address to your friends and relatives and THEY can download him. Be sure he comes back to Artondale and is dressed according to his travels. Photos are welcome! They can be emailed to my school address upon request of address!
Happy Travels Flat Stanley!

So far...Flat Stanley has been to North Caroline, Seaside Oregon, Disneyland, White Pass and to a buddist shrine in Kamakura, Japan. He traveled through Europe at the beginning of the school year, too!

Spelling test every Wednesday morning!

Next Stop North America!

We have read "A Color of His Own," by Leo Lionni. Ask your child about the friend who helps the chameleon find happiness with his ever changing color.

In Making Meaning we are reading "Down the Road," by Audrey Schertle. Ask your child to tell you about Hettie's responsibilities.

Be sure to practice your XtraMath!

Please note you can send me emails right through this web page!

Library books are also due each Thursday. Our library time is from 10:50 to 11:25 each Thursday. Have your child tell you some library rules!
